A method for dictating intensity of effort during fuel mix conditioning is the Rate of Perceived Exertion (RPE). This Scale is used throughout our Sample Drills.

The regulation of exercise intensity is critical to designing an effective workout.

Ratings of perceived exertion are a common method for assigning and regulating intensity and correlate well with heart rate.

Fitness 4 Rugby RPE Scale has been adapted from the original Borg Scale:

  4 Rugby RPE Scale
1 nothing at all
2 very light
3 light
4 moderate
5 ½ pace
6 somewhat hard
7 ¾'s pace
8 very hard
9 almost maximum
10 maximum effort
